This was the original poster that hung on nearby stores in the area of the Woodstock event in 1969 to promote location and cost.
The Woodstock Festival was held at Max Yasgur's 600-acre dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York. The date from August 15 to August 18, 1969. A music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace and Music". Just look at the famous Artist, bands and singers. From the likes of the Grateful dead, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Janis Joplin, Melanie and many more.
This was the most Iconic events in US history, a 3 day event of peace, love and music. Almost half a million people attended this event. The promoters originally set the crowd at 50 thousand, but boy were They wrong. This was the biggest concert ever held in the history of the world.
It was such a huge festival that the traffic was a stand still and forcing everyone to leave their cars and walk the rest of the way to the festival. Some had to be lifted by helicopters, especially performers like Janis Joplin.
This was the most wonderful time. Everyone couldn’t help but enjoy themselves. It was an organized mess! With the Vietnam turmoil outside the country, Freedom was the buzz flavor at the time and everyone there created relaxation wherever and however they like. Young and old dared to wear hippie type clothes, bell bottom jeans and original skin tight clothing that beautiful women wore was a freedom of expression. Recreational Psychedelic drug use was rampant but controlled. This was also a perfect time to give love and receive love. A collective love and experiences was felt and shared.
Even today, this Era is deemed the famous rock concert of all time and are still being reanimated, replicated in products like in T-shirt form, in a mug, or some in a tin can plaque. It was to be sold as a memorabilia of times gone by, but in great memories.
Just like this one. An original poster that was tacked behind the counter or in the window sill. This particular Poster Sign was purchased at Estate sale, put away between a backboard. Now it is a collectible piece that is no longer produced. It is in great shape for its age. It is one of a kind and framed. The poster inside measures approximately 11” x 14”. There are some tears that are obvious but the frame hides most of it well. From research, most reproduction poster are smaller 8” x 11”. This is the only one that is original and in larger size. There’s even a pin hole on the top of the word Woodstock where it was tacked to the wall at one point. We put it on a beautiful golden trim and faux multi colored marble filled frame 13 1/4” x 16 1/4”, to keep the poster from further damage and looking lovely because after all it was the era of love.
