Description
Vintage 1930s -1940s -1950 A.C. GILBERT Polar Cub Electric Heater with COPPER Reflector NO ELEMENT Industrial Steampunk ......acgilbert.
This electric heater Polar Cub from A.C. Gilbert is from the late 30s to the early 50's. Has the original metal plate with the Gilbert name, and the Polar Cub button on the end of the cage. MISSING the heating element. The elements are sometimes for sale online, or these Polar Cub heaters have been successfully made into electric lamps. Original cloth covered electrical cord will need to be replaced as there is some fraying at the point where it is attached to the back of the heater. A few slight dents in the outer rim of the Copper bowl reflector, nothing that affects the look or function of this item. This has an Industrial or Steampunk look. Hard to find, they don't come up for sale very often. Approx. 12" tall in the normal position, although it is adjustable and can be turned upwards more. Approx. 10" wide at the widest points.
PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION BELOW AND SEE ALL PHOTOS BEFORE PURCHASE.
CONDITION:
Pre-owned, original cloth covered cord needs to be replaced-frayed area at the back. The rim on the Copper reflector has a few spots where it is dented a little, and there are some scratches on the black painted back of the reflector. NO HEATING ELEMENT. These have been successfully restored with a new element or made into electric lights. The heavy Iron (?) base has some oxidation and paint loss, not tremendously marred, though. The Cage has the "Polar Cub" button remaining, often lost. A.C. Gilbert metal name plate intact. Adjustable position works well. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS. * The precise color of the items may vary depending on the specific monitor, the settings and the lighting conditions.
