Adorable warm gray & white cat plush toy stands with his tail up. He is firmly stuffed. His triangular ears are soft gray fabric inside. Cat has yellow glass eyes and pale pink plastic nose. He has dark gray filament whiskers.
The German book, "STEIFF Sortiment 1947 - 1999" by Gunther Pfeiffer states the Steiff Cattie character (tag #2736/16) was produced between 1984 -1988.
Yellow flag tag attached to Cattie's left ear with a Steiff metal button states the toy was made in Western Germany of all new material; 70% acrylic and 30% cotton (covering). He is numbered 2736/16.
This cat has been in my collection from the start, a retail purchase in the 1980's. Never played with as a toy. Cattie has all his tags: round paper chest tag, gold tone ear button with yellow fabric flag label and a paper "care" tag attached to the original red bow tied around his neck.
Well cared for, this Steiff toy is clean. No fading. No marks or stains. No smokey odors. No open seams. No bug damage.
