    Description

Vintage 1940's CAST IRON CENTURY ZEPHAIR MODEL 601 FRAME S1T ART DECO MID CENTURY MODERN ELECTRIC FAN.
This sale is for an all original vintage Century Zephair Streamlined Art Deco Electric Fan. To be specific, the fan features a cast iron base and motor casing front.
The back part of the motor case is missing(see pics 5-7).
The makers tag on the top of the motor states the model is a 601 and the frame is an S1T and the NO is P-6. The fan features a glossy black painted motor body and frame, and the tag on top of the motor states "CENTURY ZEPHAIR REG US PAT OFF ALTERNATING CURRENT FAN CENTURY ELECTRIC CO ST LOUIS MO FRAME S1T - 10 INCH MODEL 601 VOLTS 110 CYCLES 60 NO P-6 AMPS .75" The fan measures~15" in overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures~11¼" in diameter and needs straightening. The blades measure ~10" in diameter. The Century Badge is still in place on the cage. The cage is missing a bit of the silver painted highlights but the blades retain nearly 100% of the silver painted surfaces. I wiped the fan down to get the dust off of it but it could really use a proper polishing, we will leave the decision to do so or not to the new owner. There is a bit of very minor scattered loss, wear and scuffing to the paint on the base as seen in our close-up pics but overall
the surface is quite nice. The fan is in working condition.
However, we cut the old frayed cord off at the base(see pic 8) as it was definitely a hazard the way it was, so the fan will have to be rewired. The oscillator also works  and that's not something you always find with Century fans. Although it was cleaned a bit, I would certainly think it should have a complete cleaning prior to your actually planning on using it.  If you like early fans that are a step away from the ordinary this one is sure to fit the bill and will make an excellent addition to your collection!!
