Description
Here's a 1971, PERFECTLY and TOTALLY RESTORED, Schwinn 10 speed SPORTS TOURER model bicycle. 27" wheels and 26" frame measured from center of front sprocket axle to top of blue frame tube for seat.Frame number: KG098598. Made in Chicago in October of 1971.
I spent two months restoring this beautiful, light-weight Schwinn 10 speed. Bought it in October of 2020 off a widow who's husband owned it since new. It was hanging from the ceiling in her garage. I'm assuming it was all original when I purchased it. Sure looked
like it!
I removed, opened, cleaned, polished, lubricated EVERYTHING on this bike. Even the chain!
Has: Aluminum rims (cleaned); all spokes cleaned; Axles cleaned; Handle bar gear levers; New cables where needed; period correct 6 volt generator headlight and tail light;
NOS period reflectors front and rear (front not in use but included in last photo); Brand new original equipment
brake pads; 4 original wheel reflectors (cleaned); Original Schwinn air pump (attached with OEM brackets); Original Brooks leather seat (with added brand new padded cover in last photo); Original french-made rat-trap pedals (cleaned & polished); New frame mounted bell; Front sprocket, front derailleur, rear derailleur, rear sprockets and drive chain all cleaned and lubricated; Brand new 27" X 1 1/4" Gum Wall Tires and Brand new tubes; Both brake assemblies cleaned, adjusted and new OEM brake pads installed; Front and rear axle polishing straps/reflectors added; Rear safety blinking red light added (seen under seat from back); And best of all...Brand new, very soft and comfortable, matching in color Lizard Skins handlebar wrap (costing .00!). I did a minimal amount of perfectly matched paint touch-up.....the original owner was pretty good at not scratching it all up.
I had the gears and brakes gone over/tuned-up at a nearby local/reputable bicycle shop when I had them install the new: tubes, tires, cables (where needed), and handlebar wrap (see last photo of receipt).
I've ridden this bike for about 2 miles since its completion and it's tight, quiet, fast and couldn't be more like a brand-new bicycle!
I'm asking for
exactly the amount of money I've spent
on this bike for bike shop work and parts that I've acquired NOT COUNTING MY LABOR!
I have no plans to ship it. I've done that before and it's too big a hassle and expense!
I live just outside of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania in the southeastern corner of the state below Philadelphia.
If you buy it as listed through ebay, obtain my address & phone number, arrive to pick it up and don't agree with what I've said above... I'll return your money to you, in cash, if you don't take the bike!
