You are purchasing a pre-owned handblown pilgrim glass weather barometer with a brown metal stand.  The thunder bottle has a flat back and is designed to be hung.  The bottle measures 10 inches in length including the round hook ad decorative ball at the bottom and 4 inches wide.  The round hole to hang the bottle has a diameter of .625 inches.  The stand is in two pieces with a removable 5 inch diameter base plate - see photos.  The stand measures 15.125 inches high.
FILL THE BOTTLE WITH COLORED WATER TO ABOUT ONE INCH UP THE SPOUT.  THE LEVEL OF THE WATER IN THE SPOUT IS INFLUENCED BY THE AIR PRESSURE. HIGH PRESSURE MEANS GOOD WEATHER. HIGH PRESSURE PUSHES THE WATER DOWN INTO THE SPOUT AND CREATES A LOW SPOUT LEVEL. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM BRINGS STORMS AND RAIN AND CREATE A HIGH WATER LEVEL IN THE SPOUT. FAST APPROACHING STORMS MAY EVEN MAKE THE WATER OVERFLOW. FOR BEST RESULTS, KEEP THE GLASS OUT OF THE SUN. PLACE IT IN SURROUNDINGS WITH STABLE TEMP. IT DOES HAVE SOME HARD WATER STAINING INSIDE.
