Inspired Buttons
A pair of 1.25" repro buttons with the slogan ‘Do you read Garth Marenghi?’ and the face of horror author Garth Marenghi (Matthew Holness), the Sutter Cane of Britain.
Garth Marenghi (Horror author, self-described dream-weaver and visionary, plus actor) is a spoof pulp horror author; his act and his works are considered a parody of the horror genre. The name "Garth Marenghi" is an anagram of the phrase "argh nightmare."
Marenghi is highly conceited and narcissistic, and compares himself positively with James Joyce, Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, and Jesus. In stage shows, the official website, and in numerous interviews he claims to have written more books than he has read.
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is a British horror parody television series created for Channel 4 by Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness. The show focuses on Garth Marenghi (Matthew Holness) and his publisher Dean Learner (Richard Ayoade, “The I.T. Crowd”), characters who originated in the Garth Marenghi's Fright Knight stage show.
Darkplace is presented as a television series produced in the 1980s, though not broadcast at the time (except in Peru.) The presentation features commentary from many of the "original" cast, where characters such as Marenghi and Learner reflect on making the show. It is a truly amazing melange of carefully created 80’s style effects, amazing songs, and the jaw-dropping non-acting of Richard Ayoade.
Wear these while writing, while strutting through the halls of a hospital, or while flirting with a grasshopper.
