    Description

Offered for your consideration is a 1910-1911 model 12666 six wing 12” ribbed base Emerson oscillating fan in as found running condition. This is the first and only six wing 1150 RPM slow speed, six pole model to have both an oscillating system AND a ribbed ornate base. Of all Emerson residential models, this is perhaps the most sought after among fan collectors for its beauty, rarity, and of course smoothness, power, quietness and reliability. With a tune up and some mild restoration you can use this fan reliably 110 years after it was manufactured. I love running the same example of this model that I have in my personal collection. Upon request I can provide a video of this fan running.
It isn’t perfect so it is important that I note the issues that exist with this fan. The oscillating gears work great but the fan will need a new bronze linkage for the top of the oscillator mechanism. A crudely fabricated piece of brass was added at some point to serve the same job but it is touchy and doesn’t work anywhere near as well as a factory linkage. It is missing two screws in the struts. The centrifugal start switch in the motor is dirty and although it does often start on its own, sometimes it needs to be coaxed along with a push of the blade. The start and run windings are in good shape as are the head wires to the motor. The blades have some damage and I would suggest replacing some if not most of the wings and fixing or replacing the hub. The fan runs with some vibration because of the blade damage. The hub was also crudely repaired. I can provide a nice set of wings and a cast iron stationary hub that can be modified or cut apart and braised to the oscillating style hub that has the correct bigger dimple in its center. Lastly there is some paint loss and patina that can be seen in the pictures. Please ask any questions and I will be glad to answer them.
