    Imported by:
    Randolph Huntington.

    Dam
of 10 registered purebred Arabian foals (4 colts and 6 fillies) including her sons
    Anazeh
    and
    Khaled
, and her daughters Kushdil (dam of
    *Garaveen
    ), Narkeesa (dam of
    El Sabok
    ), and
    *Nazli
all of whom played major roles in the CMK Heritage foundation pedigrees of Arieana's Arabians.
    From our Arieana Notebook:
    *Naomi
was a mare of tremendous significance and merit and one of the first purebred mares to ever touch the soil of the United States, certainly the first to come to
North America and leave modern descent as registered in the studbooks of the Arabian Horse Registry of America. Renown for her exceptional trot, great heart, bottom, and rare athletic ability,
    *Naomi
was imported on August 29, 1888 at the age of 11 years by Randolph Huntington with specific purpose in mind of breeding her to
    *Leopard
    (see
    Anazeh
    ) and perpetuating his
    Americo-Arab
    project. The above
    photo
    of
    *Naomi
    with her colt foal
    Khaled
is the only photo of her known to exist.
    There is special mention of
    *Naomi
    in Kat Walden's article on
The CMK in Arabian Sport Horses
    , and further study on
    *Naomi's
life and that of her foals can be found in the very detailed description of her in Carol June Woodbridge Mulder's
Imported Foundation Stock of North American Horses
, Volume 2 (Revised Edition). Borden Publishing Company, Los Angeles, CA. 1993. pp. 94-101. Also recommended for further study and reading on
    *Naomi
    is Rick Synowski's
    article
on the original CMK mare families of North America.
